Real Techniques - Eye Starter Set

You may remember from my recent mini haul that I picked up the Eye Starter Set from Real Techniques. For those of you that don't know, Real Techniques is the brainchild of Sam from Pixiwoo - which is a great Youtube channel featuring various make-up tips and looks that Sam and her sister Nic create.

As my interest in make-up is developing and I am beginning to experiment more with the looks I create; I decided it was time to invest in a eye brush set. The above set retails for £21.00 in Boots and I feel it is well worth the money!

The set includes 5 full size brushes made from synthetic taklon hand cut bristles, that are 100% cruelty free. The brushes are housed in a black case that doubles up as a stand, should you wish to stand them up on your dresser/vanity. I like the case and think it looks quite professional and seems easy to clean should you need to.

The brushes come in a fab purple colour ( we all know I love purple) and also very helpfully have the name and use of each brush written on the handle.

As seen above, the brushes and their uses are as follows, from Left to Right
  1. deluxe crease brush: soft, oversized design for effortless contouring
  2. base shadow brush: applies a smooth, flawless foundation of colour
  3. accent brush: designed for precision detailing, spotlighting, highlighting, and smudging
  4. pixel-point eyeliner brush: tapered cut is ideal for dense or fine eyeliner application
  5. brow brush: distinctive shape easily defines eyebrows.
My favourites so far are the base shadow brush as it's so useful in applying a wash of colour to the lid even though its quite fluffy and its also good when contouring the crease. I also really like the accent  brush especially when applying gel eyeliner to create a winged eye and even when lining the lower lashline.

I think with practice, I will get good use out of all the brushes and they will help me in creating an array of looks that I hope to share with you all at some point :)

The brushes are soft, fluffy and seem to be of a very good quality. I haven't washed them yet, but will update this post once I do and advise you all if washing these poses any problems.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced eye brush set, I would really recommend these brushes as an investment, particularly for practising different eye makeup looks.

Thanks for reading :)
