I am very excited to be reviewing my first OPI nail polish :) The name is quite appropriate seen as we've just hit October, don't you think?
For those of us in the UK we don't really get OPI nail polishes easily (only online on various sites such as beauty bay, cheap smells and look fantastic but not in stores).
I decided to try out this colour that I had my eye on for a while, from OPI's Germany 2012 Collection. I ordered mine from Ebay, from the seller the TheColorElf and overall I was very happy with their service.
Now, moving on to the colour. I have a thing for all shades of purple, be that in clothes, accessories or nails, but I have a real soft spot for deep purple. I think it is such a regal, rich colour. In fact, I wore deep purple contrasted with light grey on my wedding reception (more on that later!).
This particular number from OPI is described as a deep aubergine, however in the bottle it looks to be a deep red, bordering on maroon. Speaking of which, to me the bottle seems HUGE! I'm not sure if it's because the bottles in the UK appear to be smaller. The bottle actually houses 15 ml of lacquer.
It actually looks very similar to Germanicure (also from OPI's Germany Collection) however once applied, the true beauty of this rich, deep colour is revealed.
It's a beautiful deep, plummy purple with shimmers of red throughout. I found the pro wide applicator easy to use and the drying time was also minimal.
With one coat, the purple base of this lacquer can be clearly seen.
Once you have applied two or more coats, the colour deepens, you could say blackens, and the shimmer also becomes more evident. The colour is very opaque and I think 2 coats would suffice to get a gorgeous plum, deep colour, as seen below.
NB - No base or top coat was used. I need to invest in both! Any recommendations?
Overall, I think this is a beautiful Fall/Autumnal colour that will look perfect in this season when the nights are getting darker and colder! Also I can imagine this would look great in the evening, paired with almost any outfit.
I love the formula and applicator and look forward to trying out more OPI shades in the future.
Thanks for reading :)
