This particular post will focus on my Nikaah (religious marriage ceremony whereby the marriage contract is signed) and Mehndi (colourful, cultural party with lots of tradition). My wedding in total was over 4 days. Yep, that's how us Pakistanis roll =D So without further ado, here goes. Btw, this post is very picture heavy so please bear with me!
My Nikaah
My Nikaah was held at the grand and beautiful Faisal Mosque, in Islamabad which is the capital of Pakistan. It was such an honour to have my nikaah at this gorgeous location :)
As you all know and as the name of my blog and this post suggests, I LOVE pearls so really wanted to incorporate them in my outfit:
I wore an emerald green anarkali dress with churidar pyjama, that was full of pearl and sequin embroidery. My accessories included a statement ring (again pearl) with some silver & pearl bangles and another diamond and silver ring. This is me patiently waiting to sign the nikaah (marriage) papers!
My clutch was from Coast and I also found the most perfect ivory and pearl sandals to match :)
We got the chance to take some lovely pictures in the grounds of the mosque; the setting and location was perfect.
Overall it was an amazing day and one that I will cherish forever <3
My Mehndi
Traditionally, Pakistani mehndis are an explosion of colour and exuberance. Mine was no different :) I thoroughly enjoyed this particular function.
Green and yellow are generally the colours used, the above was the stage we had on our mehndi. I loved the wooden swing!
I was certain that I wanted to incorporate yellow into my outfit but wanted it to be colourful at the same time. It was a traditional sharara (two legged flowy skirt) with long kameez (top)
There was an abundance of colour and flowers; these two leaves were placed on our hands for the women to perform the traditional mehndi 'rasm' (tradition) and put a little bit of mehndi (henna) on them. Oh and they also feed you lots of sweet treats known as 'mithai' =D
So that's the Nikaah and Mehndi covered. I hope you enjoyed reading about my wedding, keep an eye out for the Part 2 post to be uploaded soon!!
Thanks for reading :)
I love the pictures, can't wait to read the rest of your journey into married life. Waheeda
ReplyDeleteAw thanks for reading Waheeda :-) stay tuned for part 2!
ReplyDeleteHey, my sister also wants to have her nikkah at faisal mosque. I have a few questions regarding this, if I may ask. Is there a hall available at the mosque where we can serve the guests with food because the idea of having nikkah at one place and then travelling with whole bunch of people to another corner of the city for food looks quite inconvenient to me. If there is some hall available, how much do they charge and what is covered in that price? Hope to hear from you soon :)
ReplyDeleteHi sister just wondering is they is any place/hall in the masjid where we can serve the guest food.
